US President Barrack Obama’s grandmother, Mama Sarah Obama, has
said her grandson may not visit Kenya due to the current insecurity in
most parts of the country.
In a tell it all interview about her relations with her grandson at
his Kogelo home on Wednesday, Mama Sarah said Obama has been pushing
for peace during his tenure in office and the current wave of crime in
the country might hinder him from visiting Kenya any time soon.
“Obama wishes to visit Kenya but the current upheavals in the country have restrained his quest,” Mama Sarah said.
She said she plans to launch a NGO, the Mama Sarah Foundation, to boost development and uplift the living standards of widows and orphans in Siaya County.
Mama Sarah said the NGO will source funds to build an early
education centre, a Primary and Secondary School, a Medical Centre and a
Vocational Training Centre.
She said most projects in the area have been initiated by well wishers and not through the influence of Obama.
“The US President has never sent us a penny to initiate projects.
We have been relying on friends and other well wishers to put up some of
these projects. Their humility has seen us this far,” she said.
