In the new rules, public service vehicles will now be allowed a maximum of five minutes at bus stops and 40 minutes to drop off an pick passengers.
NEARLY DOUBLED
The number of vehicles in Nairobi has almost doubled in just three years from an estimated 330,000 vehicles in 2012 to 700,000.
This comes just a month after the Interior Ministry led by CS Joseph Nkaissery proposed a new law which will see offenders in Nairobi or other towns attend courts in distant areas such as Mandera or Lodwar for the hearing of their cases.
During the presentation of the proposed law, Nkaissery said that this was aimed to instill fear and discipline in drivers who treat the law casually.
